My Childhood

I often become nostalgic about my school days. How innocent were all those days! I wish I could go back to those days! I spent my childhood in a small village located in the dense forests on the boundaries of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh (now Chhattisgarh). I reminisce the days that I spent chasing birds to their nests with my companions, collecting fruits of the forest trees, we all children would sit and share them under the shade of sprawling forest trees and when become thirsty, we would go to our village river nearby to quench our thirst. How beautiful all those days were! In my solitude when I imagine in an isolated world that I create for myself, far from the noisy world outside, I visit those places and my memories of those days become fresh. The warmth of those memories makes me happy many times over with the fulfillments of yesterday and anticipations of tomorrow. I remind myself to remember the bright hours that found me walking over the silent hills of my childhood, or dreaming on the margin of the quiet river, when the light might have glowed within me and might have made me promise my early God to have courage amid the tempests of changing years.
